Fanuc spindle alarm d1 means an error occurred during operation of the spindle adjustment function — the automated tuning/adjustment routine (run from Fanuc's SERVO GUIDE software) hit a problem mid-procedure. This is not a machine fault in the usual sense: it is the adjustment session itself reporting failure.

Refer to the error description and corrective action displayed on SERVO GUIDE. The PC-side software shows the specific error and what to do — the amplifier's d1 display is just the flag that the session failed.

Practical notes

  • Common session-killers: the connection to the PC dropping mid-procedure, an E-stop or mode change during adjustment, preconditions not met (spindle not at the required state, wrong mode selected), or attempting an adjustment the amplifier/software version combination does not support.
  • Recovery: clear the alarm (reset/power cycle), re-establish the SERVO GUIDE connection, confirm the preconditions the procedure lists, and re-run. A d1 does not corrupt the machine — but an adjustment session that aborted midway may leave parameters partially updated: verify against the pre-session backup (always take one before tuning; our backup guide).
Tip: The iron rule of tuning sessions: full parameter backup BEFORE starting, and note which procedure was running when d1 appeared. If d1 repeats at the same step with preconditions met, the SERVO GUIDE message — not the amplifier — tells you whether it is a version mismatch, a data problem, or genuine hardware.
