Imported machine showing the wrong language? On a Fanuc 0i Model D the display language can be changed in under a minute — no restart required. This guide shows the exact key presses with screenshots (demonstrated switching English → Chinese; the same steps work in any direction, including back to English).

Step 1 — Starting point

The system in this example is currently in English. To switch the language, follow the steps below.

Step 2 — Press the [OFS/SET] button

Press the [SET] (OFS/SET) key on the MDI keyboard, as shown below.

Step 4 — Select the language

Step 5 — Apply

Press [APPLY] to confirm. The display switches immediately.

Alternative — via NC parameter 3281

The language can also be changed by setting parameter 3281. For example, setting it to 15 selects Chinese — each language has its own value, so this is also the way back to English if the screen is in a language you can't read: the parameter number works regardless of display language.

💡 Tip: if you bought an imported machine with a Chinese display, this same procedure (or parameter 3281) gets you back to English — count the soft-key positions in the screenshots above and they match regardless of the current language.
