Fanuc spindle alarm d7 means a communication error occurred in an electronic device ON the Spindle Amplifier's own control circuit — the chips on the control board stopped talking to each other. Internal, not external: no sensor, cable or CNC involved.

Fanuc's two-step diagnosis

  1. Check whether the control printed-circuit board is mounted correctly — the familiar first cause: a loose control PCB or half-seated board-to-board connector breaks the on-board device communication. Power off, lock out, wait for the charge LED, and push the faceplate fully home. This closes a real share of d7 cases — especially after transport, previous repairs, or heavy vibration.
  2. Board mounted correctly and d7 persists → replace the Spindle Amplifier (or, economically, repair the control board): an on-board device or its interconnect has failed — bench territory, same class as the other internal codes (AL-13, AL-32).
Tip: d7 right after an amplifier was shipped, moved or repaired → the faceplate/connectors, near-certainly. d7 developing on an installed machine → the board — and worth pairing with a control-supply check (AL-10 territory), since sagging rails make on-board devices drop off the bus before they fail outright.
