Fanuc spindle alarm E0 means the number of pulses between one-rotation signals of the serial sensor is outside the specified range — the serial-sensor equivalent of the classic per-revolution self-check behind AL-47: count the pulses between two Z references every rev; a wrong total means the data stream cannot be trusted.

Fanuc's remedy

The detection circuit is abnormal — replace the detection circuit (the sensor). On the serial families, a failed count-consistency check points at the sensor's own signal generation rather than the transmission — corrupted transmission raises d3/d4 instead.

Practical notes

  • One sanity pass first: reseat the connectors, confirm the cable is undamaged and correctly routed, and — if the alarm began after configuration work — verify the sensor-setting parameters (wrong declared sensor spec can fail the count check with healthy hardware; B-65280EN start-up section).
  • Mechanical check where applicable: a damaged sensor ring or disturbed mounting can genuinely alter the counts — inspect if there is crash or maintenance history.
  • Then replace the sensor, and re-establish any required sensor setup before production.
Tip: E0 vs its neighbour E1: E0 = the Z references arrive but the counts between them are wrong; E1 = the Z reference never arrives at all. Both end at the sensor most often — but E1 has a parameter-and-adjustment path worth walking first.
